Rettentő sűrű napjai vannak Szabó Gergő ügyvezetőnek, akivel a klubbal kapcsolatos legfrissebb hírekről, történésekről beszélgettünk.

A csapatot sújtó koronavírus-járvány miatt több meccset is el kellett halasztani az elmúlt hetekben. Ezekkel mi a helyzet?

A Cegléd elleni bajnokit február 12-én pótoljuk. Szombaton Jekatyerinburgban játszunk, míg a Riga elleni idegenbeli összecsapást csak február 23-án, azaz a Magyar Kupa után játsszuk le. Mi kértük, hogy ne pár nappal a miskolci torna előtt kelljen mérkőzni velük, a sportszerű Riga ebbe belement, s a FIBA is.

Szerda este karnyújtásnyira volt az első győzelmünk az Euroligában, de mégsem sikerült…

Mérhetetlenül büszke vagyok a csapatra, a szakmai stábra, s hiszem, hogy így is csodát tettünk! Három alapemberünk, Gereben Lívia, Nikolina Milics és Dana Evans nélkül majdnem megvertük a Salamancát, sokáig nekünk állt a zászló, a spanyolok úgy mentették hosszabbításra a meccset. Minden elismerésem a lányoké.

A hangulatra sem lehetett panasz…

Érdekes meccs volt, mert talán Euroliga-meccsen most voltak a legkevesebben a csarnokban, mégis ezúttal volt a legfergetegesebb a buzdítás, nagyon együtt éltek a nézők a játékkal, lelkesen drukkoltak, sok energiát adtak a lányoknak. Reméljük, a jövőben többször is ilyen támogatást kapunk majd.

Pride and fair Riga

Gergo Szabo is having lots of busy and congested days recently as the season grows older and games are being delayed and postponed… We had a chat with Gergo about what is going on around the club.

Due to the positive Covid-tests of our players, we had to postpone a couple of games in the recent weeks. What is the current situation with those?

We play against Cegled at 12th of February in the league. But before that we play at Ekaterinburg on Saturday, but the match at Riga is rescheduled to 23rd of February, after the Hungarian Cup. The Latvian club was very fair, they agreed on the date, so as FIBA.

On Wednesday, we came so close to grab our first win in the Euroleague against Salamanca, but lost again…

I could not be more proud of the team, the staff, and I believe it was a miracle, even though we got beaten. With Livia Gereben, Nikolina Milic and Dana Evans out, we missed three key players and still played well, dictated the rythm against a very strong Spanish team which had to force overtime. Credit to the team!

The atmosphere was fantastic during the match…

Yeah, that is an interesting thing, because it was not a full house at all, rather probably the fewest in the Euroleague so far, but still the crowd was very lively, enthusiastic and helped the players a lot. I wish we would have same support in the future.
