Ma este az USK Praha elleni idegenbeli mérkőzéssel csapatunk megkezdi második szezonját a női Euroliga főtábláján. Ennek apropóján beszélgettünk Zseljko Djokics vezetőedzővel.
Az Euroligában tavaly újoncként bemutatkozó együttesünk második szezonját kezdi meg a női elitsorozatban, ahol az A-csoportba került, s elsőként szerda este az USK Prahával mérkőzik meg idegenben. Az immár a cseh fővárosban tartózkodó csapat vezetőedzője, Zseljko Djokics osztotta meg velünk gondolatait a 2022–2023-as európai szezonnal kapcsolatban.
„Későn álltunk össze, voltak sérülések, sok az új játékos – olyan érzésem van, mintha most ért volna véget az alapozás. Az újonnan érkezők közül csak Sydney Wallace-nak van nemzetközi kupában szerzett tapasztalata, szóval második nekifutásra sem lesz könnyű ez a sorozat számunkra. Ezúttal sem mi leszünk a párharcok favoritjai, de szeretnénk végre meccset nyerni, hiszen az előző szezonban ez nem sikerült, ez az egyik célunk, s persze a rutinszerzés, hogy az Euroliga-meccseken begyűjtött tapasztalatok által fejlődjünk, jobbak legyünk. A 2015-ben Euroligát nyerő Praha nagyon erős együttes, idén is eljutott a final four-ba, s mivel nem csak megtartotta értékeit, hanem új, remek játékosokat is igazolt, talán még masszívabb lett. Legutóbb nem sikerült őket lelassítani, most is ez a fő cél.”
Zeljko Djokic: „Feels like we just finished the preparation period”
Our team kicks-off the second season in the Euroleague women group-phase at Prague against USK tonight, so we talked about the goals and expectations with coach Djokic Zeljko.
We were one of the newcomers in the Euroleague last year, and now we have a second chance to prove our worth in this campaign again. We start at Prague tonight against USK away in group A, and before the game, we talked to our coach Zeljko Djokic.
„We were late in all apartment, we had injuries, players arriving later than expected, and we have new players as well – so it feels like we just finished the preparation period. Out of the new arrivals, only Sydney Wallace has had played in the European Cups, so it does not seem that we face an easy ride again. We are not gonna be the favourites in this campaign, but we want to win a match, which we couldn«t do last season. This is one of our main goals, and also to gain experience, so we could become a better team. Our first opponent, which won the Euroleague in 2015, is a formidable team, got to the Final Four this year and not just kept their main players, they also signed good ones, so they might got stronger than before. We could not slow them down last time, that is our aim again.”
