Csapatunk nyáron érkezett 27 éves amerikai hátvédjével a PINKK elleni 40 pontos győzelem után beszélgettünk Szekszárdról, az újjáalakulóban lévő együttesről és az Euroligáról.
Eltöltöttél pár szezont Izraelben, azokhoz képest mit gondolsz eddig Szekszárdról?
A csapat és a klub nagyon kedves emberekből áll, mindenki segítőkész. A város kicsi, de nekem tetszik.
Hogyan foglalnád össze az előszezon történéseit, hiszen sokan voltak sérültek, többen csak később érkeztek meg.
Meglehetősen nehéz időszak volt, főleg mert nem teljes kerettel készültünk. Most, hogy szinte mindenki harcra kész, napról napra jobban nézünk ki.
Milyenek az eddigi benyomásaid a csapattársaidról?
Játékostársaim keményen dolgoznak és roppant elhivatottak annak érdekében, hogy jobbak legyünk.
A szezon első meccsén meglepetésre kikaptunk a BEAC vendégeként – mit gondolsz, mi siklott félre Budapesten?
Nincs mentségem arra, ami történt. Azt viszont tudom, hogy többet ez nem történik meg velünk!
Azóta összekaptátok magatokat, három győzelmet szereztetek – mi változott és mit gondolsz ezekről a sikerekről?
Nagyon-nagyon keményen tréningezünk és igazi csapatmunkával hoztuk ezeket a győzelmeket! Edzéseken is keményen odatesszük magunkat, mindent beleadunk és ez most már a meccseken is látszik.
Majdnem 14 pontot átlagoltál ezeken a találkozókon, ami az NB I-ben kiemelkedőnek számít. Mit gondolsz, tudod ezt a szintet tartani?
Mindent megteszek, hogy ne rontsam le ezt a számot. Ám őszintén mondom, nem érdekel mennyi a pontátlagom amíg nyerjük a meccseket.
Mit vársz a szezontól, meddig juthat a csapat a magyarországi sorozatokban és az Euroligában?
Csak a győzelem érdekel, ezt várom magunktól, nem kevesebbet! Az Euroliga próbára teszi majd az együttesünket, ugyanakkor erősebbé és jobbá is teszi majd a csapatot!
Victoria Vivians: to win and nothing less!
After we beat PINKK by 40 points, we chatted with our 27 years old American guard Victoria Vivians about Szekszard, the transformation of the squad and Euroleague.
After a couple of seasons in Israel, what do yo think about Szekszard – as a team and as a city?
The team is really nice! The ladies, the staff, and fans are really nice! The city is very small, but I like it.
How would you sum up the preseason – which was a bit unusual for those who had been here already, because of injuries and late arrivals?
The preseason was challenging due to the fact that we didn’t have our full roster. Now we are on a roll and it’s getting better day by day.
What are your impressions of your new team so far?
My teammates are very hard workers and they are committed to getting better each day.
The first league game of the season ended in a shocking loss to BEAC, which was a huge surprise. What went wrong there in your opinion?
I have no excuse for how things went. I just know that it won’t happen again!
Since that defeat, you battled and won the next three matches. What have you changed and how would you rate those two wins?
We have been practicing very hard and those matches we won was a team effort! We work hard in practice and it is showing on the court.
You averaged almost 14 points so far, which is a solid number in Hungary, can you maintain that?
I will try my best to maintain it. I honestly don’t care what I average as long as we are winning.
What are your expectations for the season and how far can the team go in the league and in the Euroleague?
My expectation for this season is to win and nothing less! Euroleague will challenge us and make us stronger and better!
