Szerdán az Euroliga harmadik fordulójában 74–59-re kikaptunk a spanyol Valencia otthonában, egy olyan találkozón, amelyen 34 percig nekünk állt a zászló, ám a hajrában a hazaiak átszaladtak rajtunk. Idő nincs rágódni a történteken, szombaton a Sopront látjuk vendégül – erről beszélgettünk vezetőedzőnkkel.
„Szépen felkészültünk a Valenciából, 34 percig remekül alkalmaztuk a taktikát, ám az utolsó hat percben a hazaiak lendületbe jöttek, mi pedig elvesztettük a ritmust. A közönség is tűzbe jött, mi pedig leblokkoltunk. Tanulnunk kell ebből a vereségből is, de összességében büszkének kell lenni. Alba Torrens volt az X-faktor, ugyan csak tíz percet játszott, de hatalmas lelki pluszt adott ellenfelünknek. Sajnos mi rosszul reagáltunk. Komolytalan lenne az esélyeinkről beszélgetni a Sopron elleni meccs kapcsán, bombaerős rivális érezik, amelyben sok az Euroliga négyesdöntőjét megjárt klasszis, s a csapat nem jön zavarba idegenben sem. Ugyanakkor a Szekszárd–Sopron csata mindig különleges, több, mint egy sima bajnoki. Hiszek a csapatomban, hogy képesek leszünk jó meccset játszani az Euroliga címvédőjével, remélem sokan kijönnek a meccsre szurkolni nekünk!”
Zeljko Djokic: „It is more than a simple game”
The high-profile games are coming in numbers – we just played Valencia, now it is the Hungarian and Euroleague champion Sopron who comes to Szekszard.
We lost at Valencia 74–59 in the Eurolegaue on Wednesday in a game that we had controlled for 34 minutes but the in the later stages they run away with the match. There is no time chew on the defeat, we entertain Sopron on Saturday – our coach Djokic Zeljko talked about those two games.
„We prepared well for Valencia, stick to the gameplan and executed well for 34 minutes, then they got into the zone and run away with the match. We lost our rythm and confidence, while the crowd got involved. We have to learn from this, but overall, we have to be proud. Alba Torrens was the X-factor, although she only played ten minutes, the forward gave them plus motivation and lots of extra energy. Unfortunately our reaction to their comeback was inapropriate. It would be awkward to talk about our chances against Sopron, which is a great and strong team that has experienced players whom played in Euroleague final fours, and don«t get nervy in away games. Still, the Szekszard–Sopron pairing is always a stand-out, a special one, more than just a simple game. I believe in my team, believe that we can make a match out of it, and can challenge the Euroleage title holders on Saturday. I hope our fans come in numbers and give us plus energy!”
